Apocalyptic Contestsorry I have been kind of quiet lately guys but it's been a while so I think it's time for another contest. I would like to make this contest as big as possible
The Theme: the apocalypse. however you see it. zombie, nuclear, Ragnarok, Rapture, asteroid, whatever comes to your mind when you think Apocalypse. whether you write about how it all ends, what it's like being there, or just plain trying to survive it, I want to see how creative you can get!
Criteria: you don't have to be a member of the group, but you might want to be so that you can keep up with updates and changes. Please put a link to the group and or this journal entry and mention the contest in the description of your entry. Your entry must fall under the poetry category(this is a poetry group) I will be pretty lenient though. The poem can be part of a picture or accompanied by a picture, but the poem has to be the main focus. your poem can be a short like a haiku or really long Apocalyptic Contest by #full-moon-poetry

Royal Families Story Contest: Deadline ExtendedIn June 2012, Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her Diamond Jubilee, along with many of her subjects. Some looked upon the event with disdain, while others treated it with complete indifference. Kings and queens have existed in this world for centuries, sometimes loved, sometimes hated, often controversial but always fascinating. The stories of royal families - whether real, fictional or a mix of the two - are enduring and plentiful. Think of Henry VIII and his six wives; the mystery of the Russian Princess Anastasia; the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table; the princes and princesses battling evil queens in fairytales and folklore; the Disney Princesses carrying you through an hour and a half of sheer magic... Tales of royalty, old and new, are still told to this day, and that is what I am asking you to do for this contest: tell me a story about a royal family. Below you will find what I believe to be a comprehensive list of rules and guidelines. I have tried to anti Royal Families Story Contest: Deadline Extended by #CRLiterature

ScreamPrompt #10, February 1, 2011There is one thing in fiction that I love to see and it’s sometimes hard to do, especially if we’re just writing some butt-pulled blahbity-blah and don’t have something to focus on (theme, plot, character development, style); this is why I like prompts that make you focus on something specific to wrap the story around. Remember the minimalist prompt? That’s kind of where I’m getting at. Instead of something personal like a few of the last prompts, this one goes back to something specific but at the same time, generic. Keep the goal in mind and you can make the story transcend genre, plot, characters, settings, etc (that means I want more involvement from the members, everyone, not just the regulars. You joined for a reason – please keep that in mind.). So is this a prompt or a goal? Yes. And here it is: Make the mundane seem extraordinary. How do you do that ScreamPrompt #10, February 1, 2011 by #ScreamPrompts

The SirenThere was a dead body on Sandie's back porch, and it was trying to get in.
She wrung the coffee out of the front of her shirt, made damn sure that all of her doors and windows were locked, and called Mike.
"Mike."
"Yeah? Sandie? That you?"
"You don't know anything about this, do you?"
"About what?"
"The zombie."
"Come again?"
"Mike, there's a zombie on my back porch. It's leaving smears on the glass door. Is it yours?"
"I... Could you repeat that?"
"Zombie, Mike. It's a dead body in a puddle of nasty, and it's leaving more nasty on my door. God, I can even smell it. This is one thorough job, man."
She edged away from the door, keep The Siren by =QuiEstInLiteris
